Overall the two devices are pretty well equal in performance. If you are familiar with Roku and have Roku products now, a Roku stick would be a great second media device in your home. They can also be purchased in Canada, unlike the Amazon Fire TV. If speed is a major factor and you live in Canada the Roku Stick is your best choice. Roku is serving me just fine so far (3 months now). It was very easy to set up and get going. Mine is the Roku Ultra. I experimented with both Ethernet and Wi-Fi from router to Roku. Both worked fine even though my Wi-Fi is a bit weak at the Roku (20 Ft horizontal and 1 story vertical from the router). Roku updated it's onboard programming and I was online. Must have taken a grueling 5 minutes at least. Subscribed to Britbox and were laughing our butts off within 15 minutes. Was not surprised about the programming or the difference between the USA and Canada because I actually checked it out before hand.
